Electrical fires consistently rank among the top five causes of commercial building fires, according to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Fires involving electricity also regularly result in a higher percentage of property damage than those caused by many other sources. One of the most effective ways to address life safety concerns and better protect property against electrical fires is through education. Specifiers of products for solar engergy applications must carefully evaluate all factors to ensure that designated products will truly withstand environmental factors impacting applications in which such products must successfully perform. Hence, this presentation will focus on educating its solar industry audience with pratical electrical safety knowledge as it relates to protecting electrical systems through proper enclosure selection, materials, codes and standards. At the conclusion of the presentation the audience will be able to take this practicle knowledge back to their jobs and establish critical prevention methods on their solar installation sites.
