Recent design advances in Solar Water Heating (SHW) are bringing the practical advantages of this approach to the forefront, with interest and popularity on the rise. SHW technologies making headway in the market today are a far cry from the simplistic systems in vogue during the 1970s. No longer a mere solution for outdoor showers or summer swimming pools, these new, sophisticated SHW systems offer the superior performance and increased efficiency required for commercial and institutional applications.

In his presentation, Cogenra Solar CEO Dr. Gilad Almogy will share how hybrid solutions are unlocking even greater efficiencies due to recent breakthroughs in module design that maximize the energy harvested from the sun to produce both hot water and electricity.

Dr. Almogy will review innovative module designs that feature concentrating optics, tracking capabilities and parabolic troughs to dramatically improve the amount of energy that can be captured from the sun. While the efficiency advantages of producing both forms of energy are obvious, hybrid systems also offer numerous other benefits. For starters, they reduce greenhouse gas emissions at a rate approximately 2.6x that of standard PV alone. Further, due to their unique energy efficiency and eligibility for PV and SHW incentives, such systems typically offer unusually favorable economic results for buyers.
