Biographical Sketch:
Lanny was born in San Antonio and received his bachelor’s degree at Harvard College, where he also received a Fulbright Scholarship to study in Venezuela. He later received his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He served as Executive Director of the Urban Coalition of Metropolitan San Antonio in the early 1970s, where his father served as Chairman. He co-founded the Aquifer Protection Association with his mother, Fay Sinkin and coordinated a city-wide initiative that put the first aquifer protection measure on the ballot in 1976. He co-founded Citizens Concerned About Nuclear Power and represented citizens in the licensing hearings for the South Texas Nuclear Projects, Units 1 and 2. Much of his life has been spent engaged in issues of importance to the community. His legal career has involved litigation to protect the environment and civil rights. Lanny now serves as the Executive Director of Solar San Antonio.
