Biographical Sketch:
George joined Citigroup in 2000 and recently joined the firm’s Alternative Energy Group. George is responsible for originating and structuring financial products for the alternative energy sector both domestically and abroad. Prior to his move into AEF, George was responsible for originating and structuring financial products for the global power market in general as well as providing power industry expertise and support within Citi’s structured finance platform. George has spearheaded Citigroup’s $50 billion Climate Change Initiative through structuring, syndicating and making tax equity and other types of investments in renewable energy projects and related companies. During his time at Citigroup, George has structured and financed more than $15 billion in assets including wind, geothermal, solar, coal, gas, nuclear and hydroelectric facilities. Most recently, George led Citi’s team in structuring and underwriting the lease equity associated to Terra-Gen Power’s Alta wind farm, which utilized the ITC cash grant within a $1.7 billion leveraged lease structure. In addition to leveraged leases, his experience also includes structuring and investing in disproportionate allocation partnerships and convertible equity investments in renewable energy companies on Citi’s behalf. Prior to joining AFG, George was a Senior Manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP where he led the Global Energy Valuation Practice. George holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Notre Dame. George also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
